Andrew Nabasny, Certified Instructor
GOALS: My goals as a student are to test for my 5th Degree Black Belt at the 2013 World Championships, and to someday receive my 6th Degree Black Belt and become a Master Instructor. As an instructor, I want to improve my teaching techniques and become a better overall instructor, I also hope to one day open up a school of my own. I want to be able to instill the knowledge I have gained about not only Taekwondo and self defense with others, but also what I have learned about Life Skills and be able to become a mentor and make a difference in the lives of my students like Mr. Pechacek has in mine.
EDUCATION: I graduated from Prestonwood Christian Academy in the Spring of 2009. I am currently attending the University of Oklahoma as a Health and Exercise major. I hope to graduate in the Spring of 2012 and then begin studying to become licensed as a Physical Therapist.
HOBBIES: Most of my time up at school is taken up by class, going to the gym, and hanging out with my friends. When I’m at home I love being able to spend time with my family and Taekwondo family, and train up at the Taekwondo School.
ACHEIVEMENTS: I began training up at Carrollton in December 1997 at the age of seven. I just tested and received my 4th Degree Black Belt at the 2009 World Championships. I have been ranked in Top 10 in Xtreme Forms and am a Level 3 Chief Tournament Judge, a Level 3 Weapons Judge, and a National Testing Judge. I became a Certified Instructor in August of 2008. I am certified in Mid-Range Bo, but my favorite weapon is the Ssang Nat (Kamas).
ADVICE: Taekwondo will give back to you whatever you put into it. If you become involved with the school and with tournaments you are not just doing Taekwondo anymore, you are joining a family. Some of the most important people in my life and some of my best friends I met through Taekwondo. Don’t ever give up, Taekwondo is hard and if you ever find yourself thinking you cannot do something there will always be some there to encourage and help you. You can make Taekwondo whatever you want to, the choice is up to YOU!
